Number of submitted innovative projects was 37 projects from MiddleSex, American University of Ras Al Khaimah URAK, RIT, Higher Colleges of Technology HCT, Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi University ADU, American University of Sharjah AUS, AUST, University of Sharjah UoS, Manipal, and Zayed University ZU.

 

  1. The 2nd Annual UOS Innovation Competition is designed to challenge the participants to think about problems and opportunities facing society.

 

  1.  Top entries will be judged, live, by a panel of professionals with a crowd of students at the final competition held November 24, 2016, in the Expo Centre Sharjah. The top 3 winners for the innovative ideas and the top 3 winners for the projects, determined by the results of panel evaluation, will receive discretionary awards and prizes sponsored by the Government of Sharjah-Economic Development Center.

 12th MAC Mobile Application Contest,

  • Project: Diabetes Watch: Monitoring of Blood Glucose Level

  1. Khalifa University concluded the 12th annual Mobile Application Contest (MAC 2017) with an awards ceremony to recognize the winners of the innovative competition which saw submissions from university teams from around the UAE
  2. The third place was given to Abu Dhabi University’s team for their submission named Wearable Glucometer with a Culturally-focused Diabetes Control App.
  3. MAC 2017 attracted 19 submissions from six local institutions. This was the first year that apps were also designed for smart devises in addition to smart phones. App innovations ranged from systems for criminal/suspect investigation tracking to a mobile-programmable smart mirror for ambient “Internet of Things” environments.

The 8th Undergraduate Virtual Research Competition - Abu Dhabi University

Project: Reacher: AI and Computer Vision-Based Robot Teaching Assistant

Impact of this competition:

  1. We Won the first place among 87 universities participating with 315 projects from across the MENA region.
  2. Abu Dhabi University hosts the Undergraduate Virtual Research Competition (UGRC).
  3. The competition aims to develop a spirit of creativity and enquiry within undergraduate students as a foundation for developing the next generation of researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs to support the development of the UAE’s knowledge-based economy.
  4. The UGRC is a comprehensive multi-disciplinary competition encompassing engineering and physical sciences, health and life sciences, and social sciences. It also helps develop an enquiry based culture within students to support the development of future work skills to enhance their employability.
  5. For the first time applicants located in the UAE can also have their submission included in Abu Dhabi University’s ‘Launch-Pad’ Start Up Incubator Program. Five submissions judged to have the most commercial value will be selected to join the 2021 Launch-Pad cohort where they will receive expert entrepreneurship mentoring, access to ADU’s incubation hub, financial support for start-up licensing costs and a cash injection of AED 10,000 cash to support their business plan.
  6. In 2019 there were over 250 research papers presented in 17 parallel tracks by students of 44 major universities in the GCC region. This year over AED 250,000 in monetary prizes will be awarded to winning teams. We would like to thank our sponsors ExxonMobil for their generous support.

  1. ADU's College of Engineering is proud to announce the success of its students at the 2022 Online Senior Student Poster Competition in Mechatronics and its Applications, organized by the American University of Sharjah.
  2. Competing against students from the American University of Sharjah, Ajman University, Khalifa University, and the UAE University, six teams from ADU participated and took the top four prizes, making it the second time College of Engineering students achieved top places in this prestigious competition.
  3. SMA'15 is the tenth in a series of symposia focusing on theoretical and practical aspects of mechatronics. It will be held by the Mechatronics Center at American University of Sharjah, UAE, from December 8 to 10, 2015. The symposium covers the synergetic integration of mechanical engineering with electronics, intelligent control, and design and manufacturing of industrial products and processes. The main idea of the symposium is to bring together scientists, scholars, engineers, and students from universities and industries to exchange and promote research in the field of mechatronics, and hence to foster research relations between the universities and the industry in this field.
