Associate Professor, Mechanical Eng., The Hashemite University, Zarqa, Jordan 2002 - Present - Taught the courses: control systems, dynamics, numerical methods, measurement systems, strength of materials lab. and fluid mechanics lab. - Gave four Matlab/Simulink training courses. - Guided, encouraged, helped and participated with the students in a systematic way to build physical models and computer animations that demonstrate the concepts learnt in the courses. - Supervised many mechanical engineering graduation projects and four funded projects. - Published and reviewed research papers in the areas of control, automation, dynamical systems, neural networks, modeling, optimization, simulation, estimation and industrial applications. - Was the chairman of the committee that prepared the control engineering master’s program. Control Systems Consultant, FINE Hygienic Paper Co., Amman, Jordan 2008 - Designed the diaper packaging machine along with its PLC control system. Control Systems Consultant, Kurdieh and Hakim Aluminum Co., Amman, Jordan 2007 - Upgraded the manual revolving door to an automatic revolving door. - Designed/implemented a control system responsible for the revolving door motion from A to Z. - Constructed a prototype for the automatic revolving door. Senior Software Engineer, Paracel/Celera Genomics, Pasadena, California 2000 – 2001 - Developed software for hardware accelerated bioinformatic algorithms in C. These algorithms employ dynamic programming to identify possible matches between a DNA or protein sequence and a database of DNA or protein sequences. - Derived and coded in C a technique that enables start-point determination for a gene matching alignment using a statistical hidden Markov model. - Used Perl to extract specific database documents from a file containing hundreds of thousands of documents, change the titles of the documents, extract only the important results from large output files containing gene matching information, and collect various statistics. Control Engineer, Metaheuristics , Santa Barbara, California 1998 - 2000 - Managed projects in control engineering, artificial intelligence, eLearning and finance. - Developed an eLearning website. - Developed an artificial intelligence (neural networks and fuzzy logic) software package in C/C++ that analyzes databases for the purpose of modeling and control of engineering applications. - Designed and simulated adaptive controllers based on neural net models for steel making processes and pulp/paper industry. - Designed an advisory and monitoring system for a cooling water reactor. - Developed a predictive model for forecasting the U. S. stock indices (S&P 500, Dow Jones and Nasdaq) based on technical and fundamental analysis. Research/Teaching Assistant, University of California, Santa Barbara 1994 - 1998 - Modeling, control and simulation of microcantilevers for atomic force microscopes. - Developed experiments for a control systems laboratory including PID design for temperature control, force control, position control and DC-motor speed control. - Taught sections for control, dynamics, vibration, heat transfer, optimization and linear systems. Intern, Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, Michigan Summer 1997 - Developed models and control algorithms for camless internal combustion engines. Intern, University of Erlangen-Nurenberg, Erlangen, Germany Summer 1993 - Training on ProEngineer and experimental work on roller bearing elements.
